Upon graduating from the Academy, Peterson was assigned to the Intelligence Division of the Clan. There, due to his father's connections, he was given an easy but well-respected job in the division.

They pressure Peterson into helping them, making him agree to go on a mission to secure the weapons from a wealthy arms dealer. Despite his best efforts, insurgents discovered the plot and prevented Peterson from obtaining him. When the plot is revealed to Alpha leadership, Bloomer is forced to demote Peterson. This also causes a rift in Bloomer and Peterson's friendship, with Bloomer feeling like he could no longer trust Peterson.
