Birk (born Carter Birk) is a known Freelancer and former marshal in the Barren-Lands. He is the previous partner of Lucie Manette and the oldest sibling in the Birk family.
Early Life[]
Born the eldest of a family of nine children, Birk is the only male child. From a young age he was tasked by his parents to help care for his siblings and started work as a water carrier on his ninth birthday.
Service as Marshal[]
During his teen years Birk was recruited by Sydney to be a marshal and began using his newfound authority to further assist his siblings and now sickly parents.
As a marshal Birk is fair and loyal, striving constantly to better the lives of those living in the Barren-Lands.
Following an unspecified violent incident Birk becomes disfigured and has a falling out with Sydney, becoming disenfranchised with being a marshal.
Work as a Freelancer[]

Using the skills gained during his tenure as a marshal, Birk turns to being a hiring gun; quickly teaming up with Lucie Manette. Together they work small jobs throughout the Barren-Lands until their handiwork attracts the attention of the Gaiden Corporation. When Gaiden places a bounty on Lucie's head, Birk quickly breaks ties with her and even sets out to collect; still eager for any cash that will help his siblings.
